About Balázs Benei

With 20 years of experience as an amateur astronomer and astrophotographer, my work is rooted in the physical reality of the cosmos. After a decade in the digital world, I grew weary of the sterile perfection and mass-produced nature of digital imagery. Five years ago, I turned to film to rediscover the soul of photography.

Analog Cosmos is the intersection of these two worlds: capturing ancient starlight through traditional silver halide chemistry. Each frame is a patient observation – a slow, deliberate process where the vastness of space meets the tangible texture of grain. I am currently working toward a solo exhibition featuring hand-crafted darkroom enlargements of these celestial moments.
